Candle Care

Your personal guide to
getting the most out of our candles.

First Burn

One of the most exciting parts of a new candle is the first burn.
Be sure to let the wax pool extend to the sides of the jar when you first light your candle. This helps to prevent tunneling (when the wick burns down the middle of the candle without creating a wax pool that extends to the edges of the jar) in the future.

Wick Trimming

Trim your wick to about 1/4 inch before each light. If you plan on burning your candle all day, try to trim the wick after every 4 hours of burn time. Maintaining a trimmed wick prevents mushrooming (carbon buildup on the wick that creates a "mushroom" shape) and soot buildup on the jar. When you buy a candle from Sugared Rose, the wick will be trimmed when you receive your order.

General Candle Safety

Keep burning candles away from anything flammable and out of the reach of little ones.
Do not burn your candle when there is only 1/2 inch of wax left in the jar.
